Selection depends on three key factors: your system’s voltage level, installation environment, and operational requirements (protection, monitoring, maintenance). For most industrial applications:
Use low voltage switchgear (below 1kV) for factory panels, building systems, and commercial loads.
Use medium voltage switchgear (1kV to 36kV) for distribution networks and substations.
Use high voltage switchgear (above 36kV) for transmission or regional substationsk from your specs, not a catalog.
IP (Ingress Protection) ratings define the level of sealing effectiveness against intrusion from foreign bodies and moisture:
IP30-IP40: Indoor applications with minimal dust/moisture exposure
IP54: Dust-protected and splash-proof–suitable for most industrial environments
IP65: Dust-tight and water-jet proof–for outdoor or wash-down areas
A typical PLC control cabinet includes: CPU module (the processor), I/O modules (interface with sensors and actuators), power supply (converts AC to DC, typically 24V), communication modules (Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus), HMI interface (touch panel for operator control), and protection devices (circuit breakers, relays, surge protection).
